Hi there, and welcome to Stormy Flyz! I’m Kenzi, the creative mind and passionate angler behind this venture. Growing up in the beautiful landscapes of Virginia, I developed a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing. There’s something magical about casting a line, feeling the rhythm of the water, and waiting for that thrilling tug.
Stormy Flyz is more than just a business—it’s a tribute to the moments, challenges, and blessings that have shaped my life. The name itself is a heartfelt nod to my beloved dog, Stormy, who was by my side through countless adventures. Losing her was one of the hardest challenges I’ve faced, but her spirit lives on in everything I create.
When I was 17, I suffered a life-changing accident on a mountain. I was knocked off the edge by my dogs, tangled in their leash, and dragged all the way down. The fall knocked me unconscious, sparing me the memory, but the damage to my spine was devastating. I couldn’t move my legs or walk, and my dreams were shattered in an instant. To say I experienced dark times is an understatement.
But the fact that I’m walking today is nothing short of a miracle. I don’t have much feeling from my knees down and rely on boots to stabilize my ankles, but I’ve learned to embrace life’s simple gifts. Every morning, I thank God for allowing me to walk another day. This gratitude fuels my passion for creating unique, high-quality flies for fellow anglers.
When I’m not on the water, you’ll often find me exploring the wilderness or hunting. I’ve always been passionate about connecting with nature, whether through fishing, crafting flies, or spending time outdoors. Hunting and fishing have taught me patience, perseverance, and the importance of appreciating life’s beauty.
Fishing became my solace, my therapy, and eventually my inspiration. Crafting flies gave me purpose, reminding me that even when life throws unimaginable challenges, there’s always room for creativity and hope. Each fly I tie is more than just a tool—it’s a reflection of resilience, faith, and the joy of living fully.
